Talkin’ (some) Proudness. Sealing up an improbable NFC North Division title while introducing Favre to another kind of frozen tundra and an early earlier retirement.

“If only Boehner wept as copiously for the poor and the sick as he does when...”
– Roger Ebert, on Twitter (November 11, 2010) U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner “crying” on CBS’ 60 Minutes. An unsettling and curious tack taken whenever it best suits him and the political optics. Perhaps one of his Big Pharma campaign contributors can get him a deal on...

"Putting The CHRIST Back Into Christ-Mas" →
An “augmented” traditional artificial Christmas tree designed to remind celebrants who the holiday’s all about (for $199.99). The lapsed Catholic in me can only sigh and say, “Oh, Jesus,” still confident that the Nativity set/Créche double-team in homes throughout the world handles the reminding just fine. WaPo: In 'Jazz,' Legendary Photographer Herman... →
Luscious imagery from the most classic era. Leonard’s stark, shadowy and smoldering work, like contemporary William Claxton’s, is what I see whenever the music plays. Pity that Leonard passed before he saw this collection released. A 2009 documentary entitled “Frame After Frame: The Images of Herman Leonard” offered a solid historical and artistic portrait of the...

Now there’s a way to protest those intrusive TSA X-ray scanners without saying a word. 4th Amendment Metallic ink-printed undershirts and underwear. Assert your rights without saying a word. Knowing the ineffectual, knee-jerk way the TSA works, expect this to be on their banned materials list any news cycle now. Coming soon… The Derek Smalls “Go Ahead and Touch My Junk”...

“Defining a ‘Rusty Venture’” - From The Venture Bros. (Season 4, Ep. 16 - “Operation P.R.O.M.”) After all that debate and conjecture, a definitive explanation remains elusive and is best left to the experts for further study.

Chicago Tribune: Former Chicago Cubs Player Ron... →
A four-bagger bummer. As a kid, the Cubs for me were all about Santo, Banks, Williams and Jenkins. And I’d be remiss to not include Pepitone. The past 20 years of Cubs’ radio broadcasts were the best with Santo at the mic, bleeding Cubbie Blue with every pitch, hit, K, dinger and error. I wonder if the Baseball Hall of Fame Lame will vote him in now. Fuckers.
