'Halloween' Slays 'Em: $26.5 Mil B.O.

Rob Zombie’s ‘reinvention’ of Carpenter’s 1978 classic breaks Labor Day Weekend take. Ugh. One more of my formative films cornholed by studio greed. Look. I like Zombie. Cool hair. Cool tats. Cool videos. ‘Thunder Kiss ‘65’ still jangles the happy sack with awesome rock frequencies. But his feature output’s been spotty (spattered?). Long on vision. Amputated with respect to story. House of 1000 Corpses was a turd. I appreciate that he was given another shot at it with The Devil’s Rejects. But was a Halloween remake really necessary? Yes, I said remake, Bob Weinstein, no matter what you told the LA Times:

“What really drew people was the fact that it wasn’t a remake — it was Rob’s version of the story, as if the original ‘Halloween’ had never been made.”
Trouble is, Bob… the original was made.
