Universal Studios Backlot Fire Could’ve Been Worse
While it’s true a narrow (minded) segment of the populace prays for Hollywood to burn, disaster was averted by quick-thinking LA Firefighters using studio water resources, when LA City water pressure came up short and sprinkler systems were overwhelmed.
Sad to see the damage, but the show will go on; Universal will rebuild (as they did after the eerily similar 1990 fire, which was arson). And as soon as rumors about the lost contents of the video vault are cleared up, we’ll know how much — if any — of Universal Music Group’s recorded history won’t be heard again.
One has to think, though, that more than a few enterprising producers dispatched film crews to shoot the New York and New England Street devastation, which will no doubt show up in a disaster project or two in the coming months.
