BOSS (Season 1, Ep. 7 - "Stasis")

  • KANE: I need your help with something.
  • KITTY: Yes, sir.
  • KANE: Something I'm having a little trouble understanding. This morning we were approached by Alderman Ross. He offered his help in bringing the council back to work.
  • KITTY: That's good news, sir.
  • KANE: He did so because he's under the impression I'm stepping down... from office. (beat) I only told you.
  • KITTY: (blanches) Sir--
  • KANE: Sit down.
  • Kitty sits.
  • KANE: I’ve asked you before, “Do you know who the fuck I am?” (beat) Right now, at this moment, I am the angel of fucking death for you. And the next few minutes are going to feel like perdition itself if you don’t tell me what I need to know.
  • Kitty's dumbfounded, speechless.
  • KANE: Nod.
  • Kitty nods.

This Week’s Canceled DVR “Season Passes”

With a new Fall TV season, it’s only fair:

  • 2 Broke Girls - Comedically bankrupt.
  • The Playboy Club - NBC saved me the trouble.
  • Free Agents - And now, so are the talented leads after NBC pulled the plug. Perhaps the original UK version will be funnier on BBC America.
  • Whitney - Star also co-created the aforementioned 2 Broke Girls. ‘Nuff said.
  • Up All Night - Put it to bed, please. Or maybe to sleep.
  • Charlie’s Angels - No Farrah = No, thank you.
  • Unforgettable - Quickly became forgettable in the cookie-cutter morass that is the CBS police procedural.
  • Terra Nova - I enjoyed it more when it was Land of the Lost.

This Week’s Canceled DVR ‘Season Passes’

A network programming schedule, low and no ratings bloodbath:

  • The Chicago Code - Loved to see the city get its props, but the characters started to feel like set dressing too. Canceled by FOX.
  • The Defenders - The Belushi/O’Connell chemistry couldn’t overcome the bland case load. Canceled by CBS.
  • Detroit 187 - It took about 18 episodes to shake off its NYPD Blue conventions. But then it was too late. Canceled by ABC.
  • The Event - The West Wing met The X-Files… about 10 years ago. Canceled by NBC.
  • Law & Order: LA - So it wasn’t Skeet’s fault, after all. Canceled by NBC.
  • No Ordinary Family - Liked the premise. Could never get past “Vic Mackey” marrying lovely Julie Benz and playing the doting, “clobberin’ time” dad. Canceled by ABC.
  • V - Perhaps when the real hostile alien invasion actually arrives, we’ll just send a team of network execs to thwart them in nothing flat. Canceled by ABC.

  • Hawaii Five-O - The pop and snap which crashed the programming beach was eventually swept out with the generic police procedural tide, and it’s never come back.
  • Body of Proof - Is not in this flavorless medical drama pudding.

You’re like the ‘Hillbilly Whisperer’… Put you on ‘Oprah.’

- What they’re saying about us is true.

- So there’s nothing we can do?

- Sure there is… We’re going to sit at our desks and keep typing while the walls fall down around us, because we’re Creative – the least important most important thing there is.

Don Draper & Peggy Olson, from Mad Men (Season 4, Ep. 12 - “Blowing Smoke”)
She died like she lived: surrounded by the people she answered phones for.
Roger Sterling, from Mad Men (Season 4, Ep. 9 - “The Beautiful Girls”)
I’d have my secretary do it, but she’s dead.
Don Draper, from Mad Men (Season 4, Ep. 9 - “The Beautiful Girls”)
This is all I know how to do, Doc. I don’t fish. I don’t golf. I fight fires. And I eat cake. So, you take away the fires and, I promise you… Three weeks… a month, tops… I will be dead due to cake-related injuries. Can you live with that?

Lt. Ken “Lou” Shea, from Rescue Me (Season 6, Ep. 10 - “A.D.D.”)

The good lines come few and far between, as the once crackling hot series sputters and cools on its way to the finish line next year.
